FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a consignment store the same as a thrift store?

No. A consignment store pays for ALL of the merchandise by paying the consignor a set fee. A thrift store does not pay for their merchandise. A consignment store also curates their items; that is, a consignment store is a bit picky about the items they will accept for sale.

How do you decide what gets accepted to your store?

We curate our items based on brand, condition, season, size and fashionability. We have WONDERFUL consignors with great taste, which means great things for our customers! From time to time, we find ourselves with too much of one item, so we’ll put a hold on accepting those items, but generally speaking, we will accept good brands, in excellent condition so long as they are fashionable and seasonal.

I have heard about your PREFERRED CONSIGNOR program. Can you tell me more?

We have a preferred consignor program which is for consignors who provide us with certain upper-market brands, on a consistent basis. These consignors enjoy some benefits to having a lot of GREAT brands in perfect condition! If you feel like you could provide us with a lot of great brands consistently, you can ask about this program. Space is limited.

I thought you were open late on Thursdays and open on Sundays, but I now see that’s not the case…

Yes, we did try to open late on Thursdays and gave it the good ‘ol college try…..but after a month of late nights, we weren’t generating enough interest to justify the added costs. The same is true with our Sunday opening. We may revisit Sunday openings though…

I consigned with you about 4 years ago but was told that I don’t have a consignor account anymore. What happened?

You actually do have a consignor account, but it’s just not a CURRENT consignor account. As you can imagine, we have a lot of consignors (3500), with more wanting to consign all the time. We can’t hold spots open for longer than a year. So long as you consign with us once per year, your account will remain active.

Can I purchase items online?

If you are a consignor with money on your account, you can call or email us to purchase an item so long as you have the $ to cover the cost on your account. The item would be purchased sight unseen and is final sale and would be available for pickup in store.

BUT we are also hoping to sell online in the very near future! You wouldn’t be able to use your consignor credit, BUT you could purchase an item online and pick up in store. Once again, all items are final sale.

I saw an item on Facebook but when I went to the store it was gone. Can I call to request to put an item on hold?

Unfortunately, we do not hold items, however, if you are a consignor with money on your account to cover the cost of the item, you can buy it sight unseen. Final sale.

I tried to find your store but couldn’t. Google maps took me to the wrong place.

Follow the map on my website. For some reason Google Maps has been taking people to the wrong location for a while now!

Why can’t I bring in items in boxes or bins?

We are a very small store, and have no storage space for boxes. Sorry!

Last year, you posted that you weren’t accepting items at all for one week. What happened?

We must turn- over the store twice per year when the seasons change. This sometimes creates the perfect storm where we have a lot of our consignors emptying their closets, while we have lots of previous-season items still on the floor. Given that we are a small store, we sometimes need to hold-off on accepting consignment for a week or two. Last year we suspended consignment for a week in November and for one in March. Just gives us some breathing room.
